Navy Days 2006

Ending the 2006 Display Season, the Raiders travelled to Plymouth to feature as part of the Display Schedule for Navy Days 2006. The team had the assistance of a Navy Sea King all weekend. The weather remained good enough for the team to complete 5 out of 6 Displays. We were privilaged to have some very Senior Naval Officers from different Nationalities observe our displays and many members of the public stopped by to watch.  The picture below shows some of the team as a Sea King Mk 4 lands in the background.

For Many of the Team it was their first chance to Display into Devonport Dockyard, a busy and crowded area at the best of times, made even more perilous by the thousands of members of the public occupying every spare space on the ground. The Team landed on the Sports Field by the Wyvern Centre, one of the few 'open' areas in the Naval Base, though this involved flying parachutes to avoid tall stadium-style flood-lighting. Much fun was had by all team members making this on of the most memorable display weekends of the 2006 Season.
